Title: School Community Liaison

ESP Salary Schedule: Range 50 Step 1 Hours: 8/Day 40/Week

General Purpose
Responsible for serving as a contact for families of At-Risk children to monitor school attendance, provide information about community agencies, and act as an advocate for the family. Additionally, he/she monitors intervention plans developed by the CST. Will work with students from a variety of countries who are new to the United States and English is not their primary language. This will include participation and facilitation of family events in our schools and other community venues.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Will work with the Newcomer Program, ELL-Accelerated Learning, Refugees, Migrant, Mckinney-Vento and 506.
- Will work with various diverse student groups and families.
- Monitor attendance and help implement attendance tracking programs.
- Act as a contact person between family and community agency, including scheduling appointments and providing a translator as needed.
- Aid families in completing required forms/applications.
- Inform parents of available school programs and aid in registration.
- Support family engagement nights for students, parents and guardians.
- Participate as a member of related committees.
- Conduct home visits with other school personnel as needed.
- Apply for grants.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One (1) year of related experience
- Valid Utah Driver’s License
- Successful completion of training in district endorsed programs like Success for All
- Knowledge and skills in written and oral communications and with public relations
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Regular traveling throughout the community.
